As they finally found themselves out of energy sources, and thus had their growth begin to slow down, Joe and Moe recovered some consciousness of the world around them.
They watched with pleasure how they emerged from the temple and turned it in rubble.
They then saw the rest of the group a bit outside, jaw dropped over the fact that two giants emerged from the temple instead of one.
"Hi," smirked and waved the titanic lizards.
They turned surprised when the majority of the others began grumbling and exchanging money.
Or rather, giving money to Crash.
"Uh..."
"We did a betting pool on who of you two would get the mask," muttered Pinstripe. "Crash's the only one who answered "both"."
The bandicoot preened.
"What happened?" asked Aku Aku.
The two gargantuan komodos explained what happened in the temple, their fight with Wa-Wa, the way the two halves turned into distinct masks...
The last point shocked the old spirit.
"His powers separated in two?!"
"Uh yeah. It wasn't supposed to happen?" asked Moe.
"No! They should have stuck with one part and let the other die, not do that! Or... Did he say something in particular?"
"Except the usual cliché whining?" snarked Joe. "He did stammer something before dying. "Kri-Yo" or something like that."
Aku Aku digested the information.
Kri-Yo... This name has power and ties to ice, I can feel it. Was Wa-Wa... trying to create an Elemental of Ice with his own powers?!
That would explain these other elements in my visions and Crash's dreams...
But then... It means the three other could try and create them too! We have to make sure of it!
And the best chance for it is to join Rok-Ko and Lo-Lo's prison.
Coming out of his thoughts, Aku Aku saw that the two brothers were back to flexing and savoring their last embers of growth.
"Whoa, Moe, still having a gut, I see," joked Joe.
Moe, realizing he was right, instinctively focused the last residual ice energies he could absorb on his belly.
The results weren't long in coming: the belly receded to let six impressive abs become visible for the first time in the younger twin's life.
"You were saying?" gloated Moe.
The normal-sized ones laughed at this exchange and flex-off, and even Aku Aku relaxed a bit in front of these shenanigans, so similar to Crash.
But a certain koala wasn't laughing...
