I changed her name back to Maddie as I kept on calling her that in my head. Even though my name is Maddie, I have accepted that Maddie Pitts rolls off the tongue better than Mad does.

When I was suffering from burnout one night, I decided to sketch my OCs in a sketchbook without looking at references. I played more with shape language here. I made Maddie's features more sharp and gave her a stronger silhouette. She is Deidra's roommate in finishing school.

The story is that Deidra is sent to a school-sponsored finishing school to shape her into a "proper toon lady" by her guidance counselor. Here, she rooms with Maddie, a misunderstood pitbull who actively tries to rebel and escape from the school. Deidra tries to escape but is caught and beaten by the headmistress Prudence O'Possum. Deidra becomes more hesitant to escape after that, but Maddie is undeterred. She has been at the school for weeks after being caught and Deidra learns to fake it till she makes it, even pretending to cry on "Cry Night".

This story was inspired by my experience at LINK, a leadership camp I went to in high school. There was a cry night, you couldn't have your phone (I snook mine in tho), and had to do team building games. Of course, this experience wasn't as horrible as Deidra's.
