Grimfang is not this Elf's original name. It's not common, but Elves to tossing away their old names and take new ones in adulthood is a documented practice. This can happen for many reasons; some do it to cut ties with their family, community, or even entire kingdom. Some do it when joining a new tribe. Some even keep several names for themselves; the same Elf can be named 'Rootwart', 'Falcon', and 'Duskhaven' and each name be used for different purposes in different aspects of their lives. Some Elves even use different names when entering different settlements, some so they don't trace their origins back to their homeland, and some simply so their 'Elf name' is used by elves and 'Dwarf' or 'Human' name are said by Dwarfs and Humans respectively.

Grimfang took this new name for himself wen he began to study the dark arts. He named himself after a fellow Elf, 'Blackfang', who guided him on his path of the dark arts and helped him make his pact with an Imp.

Oele Brickhorn is his newly acquired adventuring partner, a Barbarian who's home is a swamp rather than the traditional mountain fortresses Dwarfs are known for. Apparently she's the latest champion of her home's wrestling events and she left home like the previous champion to grow stronger and seek her fortune. As long as there is gold to be made, she'll happily adventure with Grimfang and not ask too many questions about him communing with demons. Sometimes, however, Oele finds herself needing to drag Grimfang out of his own mess...
