After a few hours of trekking, the group finally reached a temple similar to the one where Py-Ro was sealed.
"Here we are," whispered Aku Aku. "The prison of Wa-Wa, the Elemental of Water."
The former Cortex Commandos, except Dingodile, kept the information in mind.
"Wa-Wa can control not only water, but also ice. He can use them to veil our vision in illusions. The prison should be devoid of them, but we cannot afford to be reckless. Maybe he managed to subvert it partially, like Py-Ro did. Let us rest a bit, before going."
After one hour of resting and eating a bit, the uplifted and the mask entered the temple.
It was with great consternation that Aku Aku saw water seep from the walls, and patches of ice and frost in the darker parts.
"It's even worse than I thought! Such presence of his element means the safeties are becoming corrupted to convert his energy in it! We have to find him and act fast! Stick together and-"
His words died when geysers of water suddenly materialized and struck the uplifted.
They barely lasted one second, but it was enough to make everyone fall on the slippery floors and slide away in the descending corridors, dispersing everyone.
"NO!!" exclaimed Aku Aku as he charged after Crash, praying the others would be well.
Now you won't interfere, hm, Aku Aku.
Now, which one would be the best host?
...
Hmmm...
Perfect.
Joe walked across the corridor he landed in, sword in hand, calling for his brother and the others.
The corridor ended on a room.
Joe saw, at the other end of a room, a sort of statue of ice, wielding a sword like his own.
He approached slowly, raising his sword.
"Hm, another komodo dragon..." uttered the statue, his voice seeming to come from nowhere and everywhere.
"What?! What do you mean, another?!" exclaimed Joe, wariness rising as he suspected he was facing the Elemental.
"There was another one, with this very sword. I had the drop on him. I would have killed him, but I heard you approach. Bah, he's unconscious in this corridor, I'll finish him once I'm done with you."
Joe felt his blood boil at the cruel words and the sadism in the voice.
"I won't let you do that! Prepare to die, bastard!" he snarled, taking a fighting stance.
"Don't make me laugh," sneer the statue before charging.
Joe charged too.
Both swords clashed, and the duel began.
On the other side of the duel, Moe attacked anew the ice golem that had dared to threaten Joe.
And hidden in a veil of water, manipulating the two other veils that covered the komodos' eyes with illusions, Wa-Wa savored his insidious plot and waited to see which one of the brothers would kill the other...
