Here's another movement from "The Carnival of the Animals" transcription.
This movement is called "Fossiles" (or fossils) and is Saint-Saens's opportunity to make fun of other music and musicians. The repeating theme is a variation of his own "Danse Macabre," which is about dancing skeletons. Into this he weaves themes used by Mozart, Rossini, and others- making a joke that these tunes are fossils/dinosaurs/out of style.
It was fun and difficult with all the fast articulation!

Every other piece in C.O.T.A. sounds representative of the animals they portray, but Fossils is just like...

I mean, it's tons of fun, but is it the "composer's commentary" section of the carnival?

Maybe so ^o^ Actually he has a few movements that are kind of silly. Among all the animals, there's this movement which just makes fun of other tunes and composers, a movement about pianists practicing scales, and he entitles a movement about donkeys "People With Long Ears." Then as you know the Finale is a goofy can-can.
