I'll be honest, I don't like what I've done to certain characters of mine. I go overboard with redesigning them to the point that they deviate from the initial concept. I'm referring to my canine characters Sync and Wreck (Changed to Alexander and Vulcan later on), who were originally based on the dogs seen in both Alien 3 and Dreamcatcher being hosts for alien parasites. But in the effort to make them more "original" they became dull, uninteresting and uninspired. So I decided to go back to my past sketches of these two doggos and see what I liked about their first few designs and go from there.

I wanted to push the alien aspect a bit without making them look alien, so I gave them difference in their fur pattern as well as adding markings, kind of like how Live-A-Hero had alien therians that looked like anthro animals with some differences. Their outfits are based off of their past concept and just tweaked a bit. Had to make sure that the outfit's color didn't clash with their fur color. I gave the same treatment to their weapons since I did like them very much but they're now smaller in size. Lastly, their names are changed. Wreck is now Wrex and Sync is Scout. These are more like their nicknames.

Because the initial idea for them is that they could get impregnated by other alien species I'm keeping that. In fact, I'm going to expand on it and say that the ability to become pregnant comes from their race, which is all male, due to having a unique female reproductive system (Womb, no vagina) in addition to their male genitals. They are just compatible with any parasite so they are the perfect hosts. Plus, they can physically choose to either develop the embryos inside them or absorb them completely, the latter allows them a temporary ability/enhancement (imagine that as a game mechanic). Due to this, the government and scientists would often ask for them to partake in experiments or offer special jobs for repopulating nearly extinct species.

These are just sketches but I'm already liking their design so much that I may draw their full body. Best part is that, while they are based off of a German Shepherd and Rottweiler, they stand out from other similar canine characters from other artists so that's a plus for me. What do you guys think? They definitely gone back to their roots. ^^
