He was elusive. Always working in the background toward his goals. Virtually impossible to find. There were those who said he didn't exist. MOST said he didn't exist, and that was to his liking. Too powerful were his enemies for him to be out in the open, and the knew about him. The less the rest of the world knew, the better. For now. So he kept hidden, working always to direct events from the shadows. Preparing for the inevitable. Guiding, as best he could in ways that even his greatest enemies could not stop. Gathering knowledge. Gathering resources. Gathering his forces. When the time was right, he would help end the tyranny that reigned over the world from shadows as deep as his own.

A seeker of knowledge, the elder dragon had been gathering his forces and resources for centuries, lending his support to the one known as Arthur. When Arthur's life was endangered, Merlin helped him disappear. They work from the shadows of the world, prodding things here and there to influence events in the favor of those who would be free. It's an impossible fight, but one they fight anyway, waiting for the day when they can surface and lead the war to freedom once more.
