Chapter 7 - Just "Lieutenant" Is Fine
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Flopsy's longest chapter so far, also "Flopsy Deals With The Consequences Of Her Rash Actions". There's only so much weirdness the locals will tolerate, after all, and Flopsy's been exceptionally weird.
Also, the Flopsy finally gets to fight Malik, the man who killed Master. We've seen him here and there, but unfortunately this initial clash proves inconclusive. He's the main antagonist for Book 1, after all, so surely you didn't expect him to be dealt with so easily.
"Book 1?" you might be asking? Well, part of the reason I've been writing so much Flopsy lately is because while I had most of this storyline planned out, I had an inspiration for the one that follows, so "Book 2" is now in development. Hopefully, you'll enjoy this story enough to want a second book. I still need to work on finishing Princess Book 2, and flesh out what ideas I have for her Book 3. Vayryn isn't really set up in a "book" structure, at least not yet, so I don't really know how long her story will go for. ^_^;;
I'd long planned having a "competent detective-type who is following the clues Flopsy is leaving behind", but I couldn't resist making him a total expy of one of my favorite TV characters, so I upgraded him and had to go back and redo parts of the chapter. One issue, though, is that I don't exactly have the highest regard for the police force, which is exceptionally awkward when dealing with a superhero story. Maybe I should write a journal on that. I did try to make most of the procedure seem accurate/believable, but I'm no expert. But that did cause everything to stretch out surprisingly long.
Well, as always, I'd love to hear what people think. I might try to get a Princess chapter done next, but it all comes down to what my brain will let me focus on.

Malik is a huge fan of guns, and anything that really showcases technological advancements in ways that let him kill more brutally and effectively. He uses magic items because he's a total hypocrite, and might even believe he'd be willing to throw them away once all the mages are dealt with, buuuut he'd probably just keep them "just in case" there's more and because he enjoys the advantages they give him. ^_^;;
I'm hoping people will be cheering for his defeat when it happens. He is not a "redeemable" villain. ^_^

Malik is a real piece of work, and I don't mean that in the good way. My goal is to have the audience quoting Samuel L. Jackson's line in "A Time To Kill": "Yeah, they deserved to die, and I hope the burn in Hell!"
He's the main villain for the book, so we'll be seeing more of him and getting to learn just how awful he is. But yeah, he sees no issue with using magic and items to Hunt, and he might even have convinced himself he'll relinquish them when "his work is done" and all mages are eliminated. More likely, he'll hold on to them "just in case more show up", because he likes having an advantage. He'll just start finding a new group of targets...
The Sightless Third Eye (at least the ones involved in the back-room dealings hidden from the public eye and most of the cult itself) sees him as a psychopath, but a useful psychopath, and like the results he gets: dead mages. Enough to overlook the cost of those results: dead bystanders. Or as Malik calls them, "magic sympathizers".
