The freight hopping vixen watched the trees rush by. She couldn't believe it, with the familiar rocky mountains looming high, she was almost home. Yet, home to what exactly? She wasn't sure.
She turned her head towards the locomotives ahead of her, The internet had already made so many stories for her motives, from simple food to grand tales of lost mates. She had been dubbed Lucy by the curious onlookers of her journey, and the name was really starting to stick after so long without one.
Her house would surely be long gone, and she wondered if they would even still have missing person posters up. Not that anyone would recognize her as the long since vanished man when she got there. Could her own family and friends even be convinced of what happened? She grimaced at the thought of even trying to explain half of what had occurred on her adventure.
She sighed and yawned, turning away from the biting wind and curled up against the warm steal of the tanker car. She decided to worry about it when she got there, for now this spot seemed comfortable enough for a nap.

Thank you! I actually have an entire 8000 word doc on her, plus a butt ton of old drawings. So this most certainly is not the last you'll see of Lucy and her misadventures. However most of her story is just outlined since this is technically backstory for her after she finds a home with a human that can understand her. Most of it will probably appear on my spicy account though.
Yup, you are correct on both counts. As for her transformation, it was a run in with the garbage wizard on a hiking trail in her city. The garbage wizard mostly just exists to cause the transformation, and then vanishes for the rest of the story. He's a bit of a trickster, you could say.
As for adaptation, she's fairly well adapted to her new form at this point with about a year and a half since her transformation. This freight hopping journey is based right after she pretty much mastered the art of "wild fox."

This is so cute! The vixen who is also the long vanished man... that sounds like me, since I am named Vixey and also amab! This is an intriguing character, and I love the sense of the "familiar rocky mountains" as I lived there for some years. The scenic, colorful background... the pensive/dour face... the autonomy involved in taking the train herself! Wow. I love the details on her story in the comments here. I hope one day you will publish her story
Wow I don't know what to say, but I'm glad you find her relatable and think so much of the imagery. I just hope the resulting story lives up to what this one image and few words seems to inspire in people. also I hope you have or do find that "new home beyond the familiar rocky mountains."
