"Always and Forever One of Us"

Not born of us, cast from your birth tree.
Left to suffer alone.
You came into our life,
sometimes with ease, sometimes with pain,
but you chose us and we chose you.
You wondered if you could ever belong here,
but how could we belong here without you?
Even if you are grafted, do you not still grow with us?

I was reflecting on being a furry recently, I've talked with people before and had trouble explaining what was different about it other than just liking animals/anthropomorphic animals and I think I've got it. I don't have to fight to belong in the furry community, I just do. There's never a question of validity, it doesn't matter if you have a fursuit, or even a fursona. If you identify as a furry, other furs will welcome you with open arms, no tests, no side eyes, nothing. If you wanna be one of us, then you're one of us.
