I had originally wanted to make something for the Superbowl, with a cowboy and a native chieftain squaring off against an eagle and a yellowjacket on the Gridiron but I quickly lost interest and switched to a different idea involving a previously-established character. Adeck Geiger, a Luftstreitkrafte pilot who tests aircraft for mainly Hansa-Heinkel and Junkers-Roland, was stationed out at Fliegerhorst Klutzow in Pomerania in 1943-44 in order to instruct other pilots to fly the HHD-372, an aircraft that was the result of a Transatlantic collaboration between HH and North American Aviation. Unfortunately, this came at a time when the relationship between him and Greta was beginning to flourish, after she finally chose him over Ulrich and he was unable to take many leaves due to the Oberkommando der Lufstreitkrafte needing as many capable pilots who could escort their strategic bombers in the long flights to the Urals and to the Japanese Home Islands. This led to Adeck becoming distressed due to constant work and flying, the only contact with Greta being letters that took weeks (if not months) to see circulation and he spent many a night awake, too anxious to sleep long. The fall of 1943 to the summer of 1944 Adeck would later recall being one of the worst times of his life, even when taking in his rigorous Raumfahrer training to become a Raumfahrerin or his early fatherhood years.
