They been locked up like it was 1990. There was a time where furry cartoon characters was in prison scenes, they wore the striped outfits.
That was the regonizable prison fashion in cartoons until probably late 90s, early 2000s, when it went to orange jumpsuits.
Kids today regonize the orange as prison outfits, like kids did back in the day with stripes.
