I've conducted my research. Most DnD monster manuals list foxes as "small", and one even listed foxes as "tiny". But I found one handwritten source from the author Naughta Fochs, who wrote that foxes are "huge" apex predators with males as "the most hung of the canines" and vixens as "queens of the animal kingdom".

You are therefore correct with sources to back you up and have full legal permission to stab anyone attempting to call you "smol".
