Now here is the year that George Orwell warned about: 1984. This year, house music obtained its other key instrument: the Roland TR-909 (1983-1985). The title, of course, is a reference either to the seemingly omnipresent antagonist within the science-fiction dystopian novel or (more innocently) to my own older brother Gionata.
