When I was a wee teen in high school, my favorite drink concoction was always the "Screwdriver" or the "Cape Codder" aka, "No, the OTHER Screwdriver. The one with cranberry." Well last month, I found out that simply adding grenadine to a Screwdriver perfects the drink into it's final form, "The Vodka Sunrise" aka "Tequila Sunrise" if you prefer agave. So I've been working on what I consider the best version I could come up with.
What You'll Need:
- Ice (Crushed or cubed, whatever you prefer. I usually stick to cubed so it melts slower)
-Peach mango juice (Pretty basic, you can pretty much find it in any juice aisle)
-Smirnoff red white and berry (This is a very specific bottle that I found on clearance at Christmas time. It's specifically cherry, citrus, and blue raspberry vodka. 4th of July is right around the corner so it should be back soon. If you can't find it, then your second best bet is "Svedka Blue Raspberry" or "Svedka Mango Pineapple." You can find those year round at pretty much any place that sells alcohol.)
-Grenadine (pomegranate simple syrup)
Step 1:
-Add preferred amount of ice to a tall glass.
Step 2:
-Add preferred amount of shots of vodka to the glass. I never measure anymore, I just eyeball it. I wanna say about 2-4 shots give or take.
Step 3:
-Fill peach mango juice nearly to the top and give a quick stir.
Step 4:
-slowly pour in the grenadine until a nice sunrise gradient forms in the glass, no need to stir. Again, I don't measure, so I'd say like one shots worth.
I've attempted this concoction with several other juices and simple syrups and this one is the best so far. If I can ever top this one, I'll update my findings. Happy drinking!

This looks lovely.
SOUNDS yummy too.
Chuckled at "the OTHER screwdriver" because to me, that means 'Drilldriver', a potent mix we no longer serve to guests.
Just a thought... if you need blue for aesthetics, a drizzle of curacao might do ya... then again, it might also mix and turn the whole drink an icky green.
Worth experimenting with, ya?

It's funny you should mention that, because I did do something along those lines. "Rose's" who makes the grenadine syrup had recently come out with a new blueberry flavor. I picked up a bottle and experimented with it and in still makes the gradient, but yes it starts out yellow, then green, then blue. I'm not exactly sure what to call it because I've never seen a blue or green sunrise/sunset, but it was still pretty good nonetheless.
