Natalia heard about her little sister's murder on the news. She was in the nearby country when it happened. The moment she got wind of it, her instinct for revenge and death was activated. She dropped her mission and all her current life circumstances to travel to Zabokar and track down this child killer. The most shocking thing she discovered once she arrived and interrogated a few key witnesses was that the actual murderer was another kid - a wolf. She picked up her sister's scent at her school where it was strongest - the last known musk trail of her young life. She tracked her last known whereabouts to a soccer field at a nearby school, on a route towards her current home. That's where it ended. There was nothing left to track of her sister. Her life ended here, on this field, apparently eaten alive by another kid. She couldn't even fathom how that happened or why. However, she picked up a new scent, a different scent. This was one she could track and one she was determined to meet its end and confront the one who stole her little sister away. Her vengeance was burning hot and she was aiming to kill.

Having not read the book yet (currently too broke to financially squeeze it in, but I should have the funds come this Spring!) and reading these Descriptions is really helping me piece together quite a few story landmarks that I am missing out on at the moment.
But this by far is the most chilling I have (theoretically) come to understand; assuming that this is referring to "Why Are You Like This?" that I saw a good amount of months ago. The Field, the Allusion to a Wolf-Girl somehow eating Nat's sister, and of course, the fact that both took place at a school.
Now- I say 'assuming' because things are sometimes not as cut and dry in storylines; I've found myself in a fair amount of situations where my 99% of certainty has flopped hard. But, in this case, I think it's safe to say these two parts are connected.
And man... that's the chilling part: I'm most likely going to read about what happened in the book. It's truly a nightmare scenario for both characters and I hate that, as the reader, all we can do is sit back and read up on their anguish.
That's really well done, DFW. I can't wait to get the books and see more of what these character's and their own adventures have to offer towards the whole story.
