When not busy saving the day, Krypto the Superdog loves to curl up with a nice book, especially science fiction. Lately, he’s taken a liking to the old John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He can’t help but notice the similarities between him and the protagonist, a brave hero from another world transported to another planet where its weak gravity grants him super strength and agility. Sometimes, Krypto wonders what his life would have been like if he had arrived on Mars rather than Earth. He fantasizes about being a swashbuckling hero who bravely for the honor of the planet’s scantily-clad princess—and he imagines a certain purple Saluki in that role.
This is the first image in my series of John Carter and Dejah Thoris character models. Wanted to start with a side character of a certain superhero who may have been inspired by the stories of John Carter. Plan on including other characters in the near future.
