Phew I actually got around to writing a bit of backstory for this one. I love how she looks, the colours blending so perfectly together.
She's a mix of orca, wolf and ice dragon. Her main powers associated with ice, although she does have a couple holy spells at her disposal thanks to her upbringing with Mura's family (I still need to write out Mura's backstory huh)

High over the Elaren peninsula, a lone dragon flew through the skies. Her eyes scanning for signs of movement in the foliage below. The subzero temperatures on this cold winter day would have sent chills down any other creature at such an altitude. But not her. Aura Nightstorm, Royal Pathfinder, and adopted child to the royal family of Astella. She was one of the few tasked with tracking the trails of fugitives. As an ice dragon, she was unaffected by the cold weather.
Her elegance and beauty, in tandem with her status within the royal court led to her being courted by the kingdoms finest suitors, much to her dismay. Her personality was a conflicted one. Those that knew her would attest to that. Always putting family, friends and her kingdom first, her confidence never faltered in the line of duty. But throw her into any social setting, a royal ball, a lord's marriage or even a friend's party, and she would shrivel up when approached by strangers. Still though, she performed her duties faithfully, paying back to the kingdom that had taken her in, and when engrossed in her work, her introverted nature seemingly disappears.
On her solitary flight, she reflected on her time growing up. How she was casted away by her biological family. 'She's a freak of nature.' 'She would never survive in the open world.' 'She'd be killed the second she steps foot out of this nest...' Those memories that she had locked away still haunted her. She could never be free from that torment. Yet her mind wound around happier times. The gods smiled upon her cursed fate - the royal family of the kingdom of Astella had taken her in and raised her as their own. How she quickly became best friends with her new sister Mura. And how she would get dragged away into Mura's schemes. That raptor always found a way to get into trouble... this time however, decades later, Mura's curiosity had gone too far...
Her mind followed the thread to the events from a few weeks ago... They did not know the extent of what had happened. Only that it had happened. The clerics noticed it first, ripples in the magical weave being the first indicator of a practitioner of forbidden dark magic. Alarm had spread through the kingdom. Practitioners were always marked, their features being altered in order to further channel the powers of the dark arts. Powers that controlled reality beyond life. Aura was the first to know, finding her sister in their chambers clutching a dark dusty tome flipping through its contents. But that wasn't what had caught her eyes. Instead, her sister's usual silvery fur and feathers had turned into a deep dark purple. Dark scales wrapped around her neck and tail.
"What are you doing!" she hissed. "They'll have your head for this."
Mura looked up from the tome and tilted her head at Aura. "Why? So much knowledge just kept locked away in the archives of the catacombs." She spoke, inquisitive as always. "What's the point of these books if nobody's ever going to read them?"
"It doesn't matter why!" Aura shouted back, tears welling up in her eyes. "You especially should know the rules!"
Mura got up from where she was sitting to pull Aura into a hug.
"DON'T touch me!" Repulsed by Mura's actions, Aura slashed at her face trying to push her away, drawing blood and blinding Mura's left eye.
Mura howled in pain, clutching her face as she fell away from her sister. Immediately, Aura felt ashamed of herself for hurting her best friend, her family, but she was too afraid to do anything more. She stood there with her tail between her legs, head lowered as she watched her sister recollect herself.
Mura got up with her back turned towards Aura, blood dripping from her face. A whisper of "I'm sorry" and she left the room. That was the last time Aura saw her sister.
She was questioned by the clerics. She was questioned by the magistrates. She was questioned by her parents. Where? Why? How? She didn't have any answers to those questions...
Distracted by her thoughts, she never noticed the bipedal figure far below her crossing a river. Aura snapped back to reality as the sun started to sink below the horizon, the glare from the river below blinding her for a moment as she looked another direction. She quickly got her bearings, before making a decision on what to do. The clear blue sky gradually shifted to the warm reds, oranges and yellows at the horizon, and the darker blues and purples further out. The stars starting to sparkle against the darkening sky. The full moon offering a bit of light in place of the sun, having disappeared beyond the horizon now. With the light of the moon and a clear night, Aura continued the search for her sister.
Far below her, Mura trudged along the river, fully aware of the figure in the sky high above her. Hoping for it to descend upon her, knowing full well who it was and why they were there. Despite having wings herself, Mura couldn't fly. She sure wished she could though, at the least to talk to her sister and reassure her that nothing was her fault. Unfortunately, that figure never descended. It continued to fly over her, almost camouflaged against the sky if not for the white and black accents on her underbelly and wings. With a sigh, she continued forward. Optimistic about finding a new home in exile, and maybe crossing paths with her sister once again~
