Echidnas can raise and lower their ears. Theoretically, this helps them both sharpen their hearing (ears up) and muffle (lowered). When lowered, they wrap up a little, covering the ear canal, but not tightly, which is why you have to help with your hands, press them. But sound isolation from external irritants is guaranteed to be achieved. Also, these ears can show emotions. Raised - curiosity, delight, vigilance. Omitted - anger, irritation, fear, awkwardness. And they are also very sensitive... Not only to sounds, but also to touch. Don't you dare pull them!
