Publisher was mostly encouraging/prodding me to do more work related to the novel... so what do I do instead, make the most weirdest sci-fi thing I can pull out of my butt with the main character, Lexicon. She never comes in blue, but wanted to be insane and artsy with this, so really went "out there" with this one. Haha! Get it? It was a pun! Anyway...
Given I saw the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: The Original Soundtrack cover recently, it probably contributed somewhat to this in the sense that I felt encouraged I could go as batty with the colors as possible. Originally started off with the left side of the image with galaxy hair, which was flat and whatever. Then started painting Lexicon, which became a bit too detailed for the hair. Went back and did that later, which originally it was pink and now it's full rainbow. Fitting, since Lexicon is my rainbow character. Every one of my characters gets assigned a color, and she's the first rainbow (only applies to her hair and eyes, otherwise her actual skintone is basic white girl.) Most of this image was heavy use of the layer effects, particularly Hard Light and Color Dodge. Sure, it's really weird looking, but it also fits.
