The Ghost explained to Scrooge they were there to remind him that there was a time he wasn't so bad, and that they had to determine when and how he had changed. The miser scoffed. Who had ever been kind to him!? Nobody! The world was unfair and in order to survive you had to become just as unfair! This did not seem to affect the Ghost, who simply invited him to cling onto them, telling him they would leave to former key Christmas of his life. Before he could ask what he meant, the old man found himsel high in the sky over London. Panicked, he screamed and held on the flying spirit as tight as he could, so much he did not realize that for being in a dressing gown in a winter nocturnal sky, he did not feel the cold. Quickly enough, the snow accumulated and masked the view on the bottom
