Speaking of grammar, you seem to have a sly mountain in there. Then, in the next paragraph, you have the character saying "There is it!" instead of "There it is!"

Things seem to progress a lot faster when someone doubts that they are actually changing. I wouldn't exactly blame them, as I would probably think the same after eating some mushrooms in the woods while living in a world where people don't just suddenly transform into animals.
