so they were observing the stars unaware of the fact they were watching him every time they look into the sky(even though they were looking for something in the stars). That's like a bunch of scientists going to find some ancient discovery and observing it when it's really some really old elf cutlery. and said scientists werent taking the hint that they should leave it and the person alone.
