I half expect them to go back to giant dragon the second they fall asleep.

*can aim at a human scale precision through the entire universe (wich is much bigger than probably most people imagine at first)
* can't manage to pick an accurate mortal form.

Guess he might have some incorrect memories of his life...or decided to spice thing up a bit .... I've read a story where this was the case, someone with no memories of their past and unaware of their true nature, and turn out it was their own choice to get a temporary downgraded life with amnesia... for the lulz of it.

What you don't see are the many many attempts that it took to narrow that accuracy down. All the times he ended up lightyears away and still much too large.

Statistically, an innacuracy like that is likely to land you in the emptiness of space, hope he indeed end up too large to not get instant pepsi/lost and/or than he had way to immediatly go back to big giant dragon

yeah, he had a way to go back dragon easily those times. It wasn't until he found the accurate location that he started trying to make it more immersive, so to speak.

More immersive, so to speak : From what I'm guessing from the page, he's basically loosing "connection" with his "true self" bit by bit (on purpose ?) until he believe it might be just has been weird dream or imagination going too far (or booze) ?

Talking about accurate location, probably not what you had in mind, but since he mentionned right time I imagine the possibility of not being aware being slighty off, over an entire univers timespan what are -/+ 5 years anyway ? :)
