Never understood why that metal never melted :S

One good reason could be, that He is the Aspect of earth still, thus controling the very minerals too (oficial description says, that He has minerals in His scales), therefore it's possible, that He simply ordered the metal not to melt away...Or magic.

the metal plates aren't just armour, they're what physically holds him together. the corruption from the demon soul caused his body to literally start coming apart, so he had goblins weld him into a metal shell of adamentium (really strong resilient magical metal) to hold him together.

Then after he was defeated by the other aspects (read the novel "day of the dragon" if you're interested in the details) his armour was damaged, weakening him (to the point where most thought he was dead), so he had members of the twilight hammer cult forge him new plates made of elementium (even stronger magical metal). they're shown putting the finishing touches on this new armour in the cataclysm cinematic.

I cant remember the Twilight cult going to Deathwing in Day of the Dragon :S

I was referring to the battle with the other aspects. the twilight cult isn't covered in that book. it's probably in the sundering, but i haven't read that one yet.

They are only mentiond in a few segments.. but nothing to do with Deathwing : /
