just a little story of how i got started with the hooping stuff..

something that makes a huge diffrence in ones ability to hoop at all
is the weight of the thing and the size
starting out bigger hoops 40 inches or larger and heavyer hoops *made from 160psi 1" irrigation tubeing (found at lowes)
are **much easyer to practice with remember a adult needs a adult size hoop!
other than having a correctely sized and weighted hoop put your feet out and chose a direction to swing with it in dont try to move in 4 directions you will drop it just go side to side or front to back.
you can turn with it to help keep it from falling as well.
honestly some folks that dance hoop never really get the hang of straight up waist hooping
anyway if you are trying the above should help
