A few weeks ago, working on a sketch commission, I was inspired by a rejected sketch I had drawn for that work and decided to try and revise it slightly as a drawing exercise. Every so often, when I am frustrated with my artwork, I take some time to do a deep practice of elements that are vexxing me at the time, such as anatomy, expressions or other details. This, along with a companion piece, is the result of that attempt. I realized I hadn't drawn any simple pictures of Kathalia Bisclavret in a while without additional context or scenario, so it seemed like a good time to work on her.

The drawing initially began as a "Snektember" themed snake drawing, more a motion-test than anything else before I decided to make the character Kathalia. I had drawn a fairly detailed Gwae Nathair (The naga/lamia/serpent women of Alvez the world of Kroashent) a few years ago, and felt it was time to try something with Lady Bisclavret. I am really happy with how this came out, and the companion piece. After drawing her head for this version, I decided I liked her new hairstyle enough to try and work out some artistic frustrations and draw her "human-ish" form in addition to the serpentine one. I'm really happy with how both came out, and welcome thoughts and feedback!
