I was part of a start-up within an established business a few years ago. The work was incredibly interesting, and I got to work directly on product development. Unfortunately, we did not make enough money by the end of the year, so the private equity group who owned our parent company closed our department. They gave me two months on payroll to close out our projects and find a new job.
