The Unification Wars is an important event in my Phoenix Inheritors Saga, as it details the forming of the Terran Union, the first time in history humanity was united under a single government, over the course of a decade of war between each other, and then another sixty years of war against the World Burning Semita, humanity's first alien contact.

It would be another seven decades before Humanity had it's Second Contact, with the Allied Worlds.

This particular exceprt is how I plan the 'Unification Wars' story to end. This is immediately after the equivalent of Midway, Antietam, Sekigahara, and D-Day - the battle that ultimately decided the war. It would be another 45 years before the last Semitan stronghold was burned to molten bedrock, including a lot of hard fighting - but the outcome is fairly much assured after this battle.
