Reloading is the best path to pursue with this particular gun. I assume it is still in the original caliber?

Yup and I’m not even sure if they have reloading dies for it.

They exist, but tend to be more expensive custom orders.

I owned a cherry one of these I bought for $125, but that damn Czech ammo is a nightmare to locate. I scored from a guy at a gun show 300 rounds for $60. Shot sweet too. Then saw a VZ-58 from Ohio Ordnance in 7.62X39 for $1100 at a gun show. I walked with my 52 and one guy was ecstatic it was near mint and offered me $900 for it. Sold it and picked up the 58. I sold the remaining 250 rounds of the 7.62X45 for $200 on Gun Broker a week later, so it paid for the 58. I found out later on they make a metal collar you need to have a gunsmith install so you can fire 7.62X39 out of the 52.

Funny thing was, US troops discovered over 1000 of the 52s, already rebarreled to take the 39 ammo when they captured Grenada. Many of those 52s made it to the states.
