"Born in 1913 to an otter mother and a raven father, Duncan Gunn was an incredibly rare example of a mammal-avian hybrid. After his mother was kidnapped in 1923, Duncan spent seven years on the streets of Glasgow, where he became involved in organised crime and gained his notorious facial scars. Rescue by his father and reunion with his mother brought him to Boston, where he entered the Boston Military School. At 6 feet 11 inches tall and 321lbs, Duncan was renowned amongst fellow students for his physical prowess. In one legendary feat, he carried an injured pony across his shoulders from the scene of a traffic accident to the veterinary school down the street. In another incident, he was found to be capable of lifting a fully grown man over his head with one arm, though the dispute that led to this particular affair has never been publicised. Marrying in 1932, Duncan fought in the Brassao Revolution in 1934 and forged a military career there., ultimately rising to the rank of Major-General. Passionate, quick witted and principled, Duncan was a popular student and officer, and a devoted family man. Here he can be seen in a classical posture for the camera, posing for artistic studies being one way of supplementing his small allowance. The censor bar appears to have been applied at a later date, probably around the same time the photograph was colourised."
