I used two pieces of HO flex track to show the sizes between HO and HOn3. the 2-8-0 is on HOn3 that i temporarily made and the 0-6-0 is on HO.

Ok, understand that I know nothing about railfanning...

What do the number refer too, such as 2-8-0, 0-6-0, etc? And, what do the acronyms for the track gauges mean? HO = ? HOn3=?

2-8-0 is the wheel arrangement on the engine. 2 pilot or leading wheels, 8 driving wheels and no trailing wheels. And 0-6-0 is the sam no pilot wheels 6 driving wheels and no trailing wheels. HO mean Half of O scale. HOn3 is HO narrow gauge 3ft
