Bio: Before the Doctor became the technological genius assistant to Professor Sassafras, he was once a normal, feral Growlithe named Chance whose owner, a young woman named Sandra Payne, had brought him onto campus secretly. She had kept him hidden up until one fateful night when he escaped due to an improperly secured door. He wandered around and eventually touched a magically charged Fire Stone that lay in the Professor’s office as part of the Professor’s many discoveries that had not yet been catalogued. Sandra’s attempt to stop him proved futile, and both were engulfed in a magical burst of evolution that roused the Professor from his nightly mud bath and drove him to investigate.
As it turned out, the energy had evolved Chance, turned him into a chubby anthro Arcanine, and greatly boosted his intelligence along with granting him sapience. Sandra, meanwhile, had been turned into a fat feral Arcanine, but retained her mind and her ability to speak and be understood by humans. The newly sapient Arcanine, wishing to return his owner to her old self, volunteered to work as the Professor’s assistant in exchange for finding a way to turn her back to normal. Since then five years have gone by, and they are no closer to having found that way… which in the long run worked out surprisingly well since Sandra and Chance have grown to accept their new roles in life.
Chance is indispensable to the Professor: keeping his stuff organized and making the presentations the Professor gives to his students out of the very rough outlines the Professor makes every night before his mud bath. The Arcanine also makes sure the artifacts the Professor finds on his trips are kept safely away from others. When not doing that, you can find the Doctor playing old arcade games via emulation or petting Sandra.
