Rook doesn't often take on work with babies, they're super tempting for the amount of years he could get out of them. He took this one, not anticipating being stuck with it when they're parents were killed by the threat he was hired to kill; his duty is to the ward and no one else after all, but normally there are next of kin. He wanted to be fair to them, though. Hardly realized how attached he got before it was too late.
