[1 hour before the attack]

“Alright lads!. Get your shit together and ready your gear!. We’ll be hitting the next town in an hour!” Comes the thundering order from the leader of the company of cutthroats and mercynaries i’ve been placed with.

Hm… At least this is a step up from the real warlords, compared to what that bloody whelp who had the balls to say they were one had going on.
Three months ago the whelp in question wanted to show that they had what it took to be a 'big bad warlord', but half way into the battle of the castle city, they ran with their tail between their legs like the cowardly little mutt that they were.
It was only a matter of time before the mecinaries with more leadership in them called a retreat for everyone to book it.

Now, I could have easily taken all of those maggots out without much of a problem, but that whole battle was just a side quest, not my main one, which I had more or less accomplished.
Soo, weighing my options, I knocked the lights out of my target with a solid punch to their mug, and followed the wave of fleeing mercenaries.

And to say the other warlords were royaly pissied off by this show of weakness, would be an understatement. They even called upon my services to bring that cowardly ‘warlord’ to them on a silver platter, alive.
Because after that little shit’s stunt, it ended up costing the rest of the warlords a lot of their reputation. Because after one city managed to defeat a warlord’s assault, and drive them away even, why should the people then fear them, if they are so easily defeated?.
And that statement, they did not take kindly to.

Which brings us to why i’m here. They promised me heaps of gold and trinkets, and even a Gallion, for me to do just a simple thing.
Kill as many Hay Feeding Rats i could across the countryside, just so the statuesque would be upheld.
And also, while i was at it, kill a few special targets along the way, who's said to live in some of the towns we are going through. We’ve already killed 4 of them so far.

And with my help up til now, my company has burned down 10 towns in record time. And in an hour, it will be 11… *Sigh* I just wish there would have been anyone worth fighting, but alas, that just be the curse of being too good at my job… God, why don’t you just send me a worthy opponent now!.

—[10 minutes into the attack]

“Quickly! get the civilians out of he*SPLAT!*”

The town defender didn’t get to finish, as my thrown hammer turned his skull into mush, before continuing on and crashing through one of the burning buildings, sending debri scattering and hitting some of the other defenders that were near it. *Sigh* And still there is none who can entertain me.

“What is this monster!?” One of them yells

“Quick!, we need to regroup with the others!. Sir Arix may stand a chance!” Another yells.

……Wait. Did they just say that…

“Our fine tomato boi is here!?. Yahoo!!!. oooooohhhh! This is just wonderful news!”

“Oh for fuck sake!. Why the hell is that bloody lizard here!?!”

“Oh come now angy!, i know you’ve missed him too! hahahaha!!”

“Shut it you fucking clown!!”

“Quiet you two. If the dragon is here, that just means a bigger reward for us. He is, after all, a wanted hero in the underworld”

“Aaawww… Really?. Maybe you could just tone it down a bit?, just so he doesn’t die!. I’ve grown rather fund of the poor sod, in just that small amount of time we have spend with him”

……*Mentaly slaps crazy across the face* “Ow!!”

“He’s a warrior with potential, that’s true. But that doesn’t mean I'm going to go easy on him”


“...okay…): . Buuuut, now i’m not saying we shouldn’t not kill him with overkill, but maaaaybe it would be just a teeny tiny bit safer, if we didn’t resort to our big boy, army wiping, powers. You know?, just so those above don’t come down here to annoy us?”

“What? Are you scared of the Chicken wings now?!”

“Oh no no no no no, don’t get me wrong. I’ll always be up for some delicious divin fried Chicken wings. I’m just thinking more of, are we REALLY in the mood to have a BORING tango with those high and mighty bitches?”

“......Crazy does make a point, so for now we’ll just do the usual”

“That be fucking with his head?”

“Fucking with his head”

“Ooohh!, hehe. Fun Times ahead~ :)”
—*CLUNG!* *PING!* *Shove* *SPLAT!* And off beyond a wall of fire, a headless body goes. *Sigh* this is just getting pathetic.

“RRAAAAA!!!” *PUNG!!* The roar of a defender sounds out behind me, as their sword bounces off my armor. To which I spin around with my hammer out, catching them right in the chest, as I continue with them still on my hammer, before also flinging them off into the fire like the last one.

“I think that about does it for the defenders on this part of town”

“GOD i hope so!. These bloody Rats are just a waste of our time!”

“Oh cut them some slack Angy!, all of them are not demigods, tho most of the ones on this rock that were, weren't that powerful”

“Still, they are bloody pathetic!”

Then out of the blue we hear someone yelling something from behind the roaring fire wall

“The fuck did they say?”

“Hell if I know, why don’t we take a look and see who said it!. Hey!, Big M!. Why don’t you slap on the ‘Soul eyes’ so we can see who said that!”

“I was going to do that anyway moron, and what did I tell you idiots about backseating?” I say, as I look at the fire, and my vision goes dark. Then I begin seeing glowing siluets in the darkness. Most of them look like my guys, except for one, who’s soul shines quite brighter than the others, and looks a bit more Draconic.

“huh… well i’ll be…”

“There’s our tomato boi!. Hahahahaaa!. Why don’t we give the boy a hello gift, ey!”

“Yeah, let’s give him a HEAVY and FAST one!”

“Hm, you know…” I say, as I throw my hammer behind me, ready to throw it like a frisbee. “...I was about to say the same damn thing” Then i chuck it through the fire as it spins through the air, and a second or two later, i see a red cloud appear in the air over on the other side, before i hear my hammer hitting something, and then crashing into something else.

Then I proceed to walk through the fire, as it dances around and against my armor, but I pay it no mind. And as I near the end of the fire wall, I see the Hero in red scales, and steel armor, as I begin to speak as I exit the fires.

“Well well well, if it isn’t the little hero. Back for more are we?” I say, as I look him up and down. “Hope i didn’t hit you too hard last time we met”

And to answer that, Arix readies his sword and shield, and says. “I’m still standing, aren’t i?”

“That you are…” Then I took a look around, and felt a bit offended that this would be our battle ground. “*Sigh* To be honest, I would have preferred to face you on a proper battlefield, not some worthless town that is on fire. For you are truly one of the far too few to have gotten my acknowledgement” I say, as I turn back to look at him.

“But i guess this just have to do”

Then I hold out my right hand, as the sound of metal banging, and then scraping across stone, as my hammer comes flying out of the wall of the building that was behind Arix, causing it to collapse in the process.

But Arix was a nimble one, as he dived out of the hammer’s path as it almost grassed his back. The hammer flew right into my grasp as it reached me, and I lowered it down to hold it in both hands, as I took a sprinting stance.

“Then prepare yourself, for this time you do not have the safety of the divine” I say, as in the next second I'm flying right at him, hammer ready to send him flying. But unfortunately for me, he did that before I could do it, as he opened his wings and took to the skies, before coming down again to slam my hammer into the floor.

But before he could get off, I swung the hammer up, which in tow, sent him flying. Afterwards, I threw my hammer behind me again, and then chucked it after him. But he managed to duck under the flying hammer, before charging right into me with his shield up. He managed to push me a few meters, before I grabbed his arm, and flung him into a nearby wall.

“Come now. you’ve got to get more creative if you want to have even a slight chance to beat me” I say as I slowly approach him, and to which he raises his shield and backs away. I throw a punch at his shield, which pushes him back by a few meters, yet he still stands proud.

“I was expecting you to get just a bit ticked off from seeing me again, I did after all, push a few nerves from your past, Ye who left your fellow man to a horrible fate!” I say, and he recoils a bit. Hm, seems like the hallucinations are kicking in. But before he could regain his wits, I quickly stepped up to him, before kicking him to the floor, and then pin him to it, by slamming my foot on his chest and looking down on him.

“Pff!, pathetic!”

But then, Arix grabs onto my ankle, and heaves with all of his might, and he manages to throw me off.

“Oh shit”
“Oh shit”
“Oh shit”

We all think, as I hit the ground and start rolling and tumbling across it, before stopping a few meters away. I get back up on one knee as I look over towards my foe.

“Your pretty strong, scale bag. But we haven’t even started the real fight yet!” I say, as I get back on my feet and crack my knuckles. I charge the Hero and throw a punch at him, but he slaps it away with his shield, and punches me in the face instead from down under, which makes me recoil backwards a bit. Then he follows up with a kick, which sends me back down on my ass rolling. I get back up again, and keep on throwing punches at him, but he keeps on deflecting them, blocking them, or dodging them, while also returning said attacks back to me.

This went on for a few minutes, before Arix delivered an extra hard kick into my chest plate, which knocked me a good five meters away from him onto the ground, and over to a flaming carriage.

And while I was slowly getting up, Angry was throwing a hissy fit.

“RRRRRAAAAAAGGGG!!!!. For the love of FUCK!, just wip out the big guns already, and kill this fucker!!!”

“Oh by all means, sure, I can do that, but that just means that the pigeons want to get into this fight as well. Dumbass” I say to him in my head, as I get up on one knee.

“Alright Crazy, it should have been long enough for the madness to have taken a slight hold on his mind, so it’s your time to shine now”

“[i]You got it, Boss man!. Hahahaha!!”

As I get back up, I proceed to dust myself off, before looking at Arix.

“You Are a mighty warrior indeed, Ordragc, And a fine hero too. But when it comes to being a hero such as you…” I say, as i bend my upper body just so slightly to the side for a moment, to indicate i’m looking behind Arix, and i see a dark siluet appear up from the ground inside the wall of fire, who then waves at me, before stopping as Arix turns his head around to see what i was looking at. I then grabed onto the flaming carriage with one hand as I finish by saying, “...You can’t save everyone” Before I throw the whole thing over his head, and towards the unfortunate 'Victim’.

And the gullible fool fell for it.

He turned his back on me, as he flew through the fires and flames, and swept the ‘civilian’ out of harm's way, as the carriage shattered against the ground where they were just a moment ago.

I walked towards the fire wall, and advanced through it, and as I got to the other side, I saw Arix recoil back from the one he saved, as they laughed at him with a twisted smile on their face. Not notecing me standing right behind him

“Don’t you know, that you should never leave your eyes off your foe” I ask him, as I towered over him from behind. He turns his head towards me, but is met with my fist against his Face, which knocked his helmet off, and him to the ground.

Before he could regain his wits, I thrusted my hand down towards him, and grabbed him by the throat. The little Rat tried to get free by hitting my arm, but to no avail, as I lifted him up off the floor, and stared at him.

“You May be a powerful warrior, dragon, but you are just a pebble beside the mountain that I am” I say, as I tighten my grip on his throat. “Hm, I've heard from people here and there, and they say that you are quite the Fearless one… heh” I say, as I clasps my other hand onto my face plate. “I would like to see that myself, before i believe it” I say, as i press on a hidden button, as a click sounds out, before i start to remove the plate.

Smoke falls out from the opening where the plate once was, as I stare at him with my hunting white glowing eyes. I see the shock and horror in his eyes for a moment, as i was expecting his fears to finish him off in a minute. But to my shock, and surprise. The horror and shock i saw in his eyes, were gone, and was now replaced with will and determination, as he Now. Just. SMILES.

And to say I was impressed, and a bit baffeled aswell, you would be right. And while I was still trying to give him a heart attack from sheer fear, he just kept on smiling at me. Then he told me, that while we were fighting, that gave the townspeople, and one of the vip targets, just enough time to escape.

Upon hearing that, I just stopped the fear and just glared at him. This Man…

“What are you waiting for?!?!. Just Snap his neck already and be done with it!!!. Because clearly your scare tactic ain't working!!!” Angry yells, to which I turn my head to the right and say, with venom in my voice. “Shut It”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!. HO HO OHHH!!. This is just too fucking funny!!. Hey Mal!, how does it feel to find out that your fear powers don’t work all that much on this guy?!. PFF HAHAHAHA!!!” Crazy laughs, as I swing my head to the left. “That goes for you too” I say, as I turn back to the smiling Scaly Rat in my grasp.

“I must admit, it's been awhile since i've been...Bamboozled, as someone i know would say. But don't you get cocky now whelp…” I say, as I once again tighten my grip on his throat, which got rid of that grin of his. "I'm still gonna snap your bloody head off like a twig, you little Rat"

But before I could make good on my statement, a voice sounded out from somewhere saying “Don’t touch him you monster!!” Before my vision turned white, and for the first time in a while, I felt PAIN. It felt like someone had just thrown a pot of scalding hot water into my face and eyes, and because of this i let go of the Rat as I grabbed onto my face in pain. This sort of Magic... oooh, those little bastards...

By the time I had gotten my senses together again, the little bastard had already run off!... hmm.

Soo… Now he also gets the help of the spirits as well. This bastard is just full of surprises.

And as I watch the little Rat run, I yell to him, some parting words “You may have the help of the spirits!, but don't think that they alone can stop me!. We'll meet again, Ordragc!, and when that day comes, where we face each other on the bloody battlefield once more!...”

I hold my hand out to recall my hammer, as it comes flying out from the fires, and i grab it when it reached me, then placed my foot on his helmet that he left behind, and then say to him in his mind one last time, before i re-equiped my face plate.

“...I won’t hold back…”
