*** PART 2 of 3 ***
Jack felt like he had been transported to a whole new world. The sites, sounds, and diversity of people was beyond anything he had ever experienced before.
The sea otter’s childlike wonder at all the audio and visual stimulation was quickly picked up on by Kenneth.
“Like what you see, Junior?” he asked while looking down at the awestruck otter. “Just you wait until you see what’s in store for you in the vendor hall!”
Jack, who was naturally quite timid and would do all he could to avoid being trapped within a crowd of people, gave no reply beyond squeezing his bear buddy’s hand. .
The way Jack was acting, coupled with the way he appeared to scamper like a toddler to keep up with the taller, longer-legged bear, gave Kenneth a feeling that he never thought he would ever have.
“Believe me, Junior,” the brawny bear stated as a father would to their son. “Daddy Kissyfur is here to make sure you have the best day ever.”
***
The vendor hall was even more crowded and noisy than the halls that lead towards it. This brought Jake to close his eyes to ease his nerves as he decided to trust Kenneth to safely guide him to their destination.
“Yo, kissy face!” a lanky tiger in baggy street clothes greeted while raising his hand. “You find the kid?”
Kenneth nodded and waved to his colleague while making sure not to allow the smaller, sea otter in his care to be swept away by the crowd.
“Sure did!” he replied before accepting a series of high-fives from his fellow content creators who were operating the large booth with him. “Business good?”
A lion, who appeared to look Jake’s age, laughed as he turned around to show he had a baby bird riding over his shoulders.
“Suppose so,” he remarked while adjusting the hold he had on the yellow-feathered fledgling. “You were right about Celeste increasing my sales and keeping things from getting too awkward.”
“Papa!” the violet-eyed toddler chirped. “Baby!”
The high pitch of the young, pastel-yellow feathered bird caused Jack to open his eyes and become abruptly aware of all the sounds and people who occupied the vendor hall.
“Eep!” he gasped while reflexively wrapping himself around Kenneth’s leg and shutting his eyes.
“Shucks!” Kenneth said with surprise as he reworked his one hand to hold Jack firmly against his body while using the other to pat the anxious otter on the back. “Junior here is a smart kid I met on the internets who just so happens to attend the prestigious college on the other side of town.”
The tiger finished making change for a customer before turning to address his colleagues.
“That explains all the kids around here,” he stated.
“Says the scrawny twerp who gave up college to be a mediocre video game streamer,” teased a middle-aged chipmunk from the opposite side of the booth’s interior.
The tiger’s eyes narrowed as he abruptly rose from his seat and shook his fist towards the dolled-up chipmunk.
“Like you’re one to talk, Dazzle Razzle!” he barked. “I’m not the one going through a midlife crisis brought on by having been such a perfect angel who did everything her mommy and daddy told her to do!”
Razzle grew a wide smile as she looked towards the frazzled, young adult with her emerald-green eyes.
You are just so cute when you get yourself worked up like that, Todd” she giggled while giving her long red hair a tease with her hand. How’s that basement working out for you?”
“Shut up!” he roared in reply that was less confrontational and more like a brother arguing with his sister. “And the name’s Terminal Velocity Raptor!”
The chipmunk adjusted her stylish glasses and chuckled.
“Todd sounds better,” she stated matter-of-factly. “Terminally Ill Rotor sounds more like one of those one hit wonder groups from twenty years ago.”
Todd clenched his fists, growled, and returned to his seat to make sure he did not miss out on a customer that had come by during his disagreement with Razzle.
“Got to love the free entertainment around here,” Kenneth said while helping Jack into one of the extra foldout chairs. “How’s about you take a load off while I sell off my merch?”
“Sounds fun,” replied the brown otter as he allowed Kenneth to pick him up and sit him on the chair. He was feeling less anxious, but still struggling to not feel so overwhelmed by everything going on around him.
“Here,” the lion grunted as he placed Celeste in a stroller that he rolled beside Jake. “Papa needs a break.”
“Hello!” greeted the young nuthatch as she looked towards Jack. “You baby, too?”
Jack felt himself blush as he watched the shortall wearing, and very obviously diaper clad, little bird fuss and flap in a hopeless attempt to escape the hold the stroller straps had on her.
“What you?” she inquired while putting all her strength towards pushing herself to break free of the stroller. “I nut-nut burb.”
Jack felt worried for the toddler, but did not know what he could do beyond watch her flail, moan, squawk, grunt, and flap as she tried in vain to remove herself from the stroller.
“Now what’s got you in such a fuss?” Kenneth asked while taking Celeste out from within the stroller and holding her over his shoulder. “Are we too much of a rowdy bunch for you to want to stay still?”
The bashful, brown otter looked up and marveled at how his friend had the fledgling nuthatch securely held over his shoulder as he patted and rubbed her head, back, and bottom with his hand.
“That’s better,” he assured as the bright-yellow bird ceased her frantic flailing. “Just take it nice and easy, little lady.”
“Ungh…,”she groaned through her clenched beak. “Erm-umpf…”
Jack watched his friend’s face go from calm to concerned as Celeste pulled herself up over Kenneth’s shoulder, turned red in the face, and did that thing that those who are diaper dependent tots seem to do when you least want them to.
“Golly!” the caring bear laughed as he returned to comforting the baby birdy. “Seems your papa and I aren’t the only ones taking care of a little business here at the convention.”
The young adult lion suddenly appeared by Kenneth.
“Oh, Celeste…,” he sighed while reaching for his daughter. “I’m so sorry, Kissyfur. Do you think you could watch my stuff while I go and take care of her?”
“I have a better idea,” Kissyfur replied while holding the mint-green, bunny themed, shortall wearing, nuthatch toddler out so her eyes could look directly into his eyes. “You hold the fort while Junior and I see to the little lady’s oopsie-daisy and take her over to the kid’s corner for a spell.”
Jack felt butterflies in his belly as he heard all in which Kenneth had said. Not only would he be getting to leave the hustle-and-bustle of the vendor hall, but he was also going to get more time with Kissyfur, which was the only reason he had decided to come to the convention in the first place.
“Raspberry, Raz!” Kissyfur called out. “Split you 70 / 30 to move what I got left why I let Lucca have a break from this little cutie!”
“Fine by me,” she replied as she came up beside the bear and bird to playfully tickle around Celeste’s neck.
Lucca, the lion who had a red mane and a small pair of wings extending from his back, slapped a hand upon Kenneth’s shoulder.
“Thanks, man,” he stated gratefully. “Now I can really start making some sales.”
“Well, then,” the burly bear said while taking hold of Celeste’s diaper bag. “How about we get this train rolling, Junior?”
Jack saw that Kenneth had extended a hand for him to hold. The three then left the vendor hall for their next destination.
***
The overdressed otter noticed a bizarre change in how he felt he was being perceived by the convention attendees. He had felt like he was a nobody that was only going to be trampled by all those who were taller than he was. He actually was almost squashed if Kenneth didn’t happen to spot him being bounced around like a pinball in a pinball machine.
“Whee!” Celeste chirped while waving one of her greyish-blue tipped, winged hands towards the countless people who could give her attention. “I pretty bird! I a pretty bird!”
Kenneth, whose face was nearly beside Celeste’s shortall-covered dirty diaper, tried to not look as if he was exclusively focused on making it to the family restroom as quickly as his long legs would take him.
Jack could not help but to look up at the cheery little birdy. He admired how she was just so excited to get the attention of everyone she possibly could as she was carried through the crowd by the very same guy who was keeping a firm, yet gentle, hold on his hand.
“Cutie!” an attendee could be heard saying as they passed closely by the traveling trio.
“Someone trying to look like his daddy?” another passerby said.
“I wish my husband would take time like this out with our kids,” a stationary attendee shared with a group of their friends while sitting upon a cushioned bench.
Jack felt himself starting to blush over how he was being seen as Kenneth’s son instead of some noob who had never participated in a convention before. The looks he saw from those he brushed against were pleasant instead of condescending. It was also nice to hear people say, “Oops!”, or “Excuse me,” as they made sincere efforts to not slam into him.
“Tweet!” the young nuthatch called while trying to pull herself beyond the safe position the burly bear was holding her in. “Tweet-tweet-tweet!”
Jack found himself blushing more as his mind imagined himself as the one being held snugly over his bear pal’s shoulder. Was he as outgoing, happy, and fearless when he was Celeste’s age? If so, why was he so timid, introverted, and afraid of interactions with everyone now?
“Mind getting the door, Junior?” asked Kenneth as they reached the family restroom. “Kind of got my paws full.”
The bashful sea otter hesitated for only a second before doing what he was asked. He then let go of Kenneth’s arm to hold the door open to allow the papa bear and baby bird in before following closely after them.

Jack watched in amazement at how the big bear seemed to be a pro when it came to caring for a toddler. The fluid motions of bringing down the wall-mounted changing table, placing Celeste down on her back, slipping the diaper bag by the nearby sink, and making short work of unsnapping the flaps of the bunny-printed shortalls to reveal the used diaper contained within.
“You okay, Junior?” he asked without breaking his stride of preparing himself for what he wuld soon be cleaning off of the cheerful baby bird. “You need to use the potty while we are in here?”
Without a word, Jack scurried to a nearby stall to relieve himself.

“Hold up there, Junior,” said Kenneth as he directed the balled up, dirty diaper towards where he knew Jack to be. “Can you toss this for me before washing your hands?”
The diaper was not leaking nor did it show any sign of letting out what was meant to be kept in, but the soft warmth the brown otter felt in his hand made him flinch as he thought on what it may be like to wear such a cushy garment instead of his tighty-whities.
“You’re lucky you are such a cutie-patootie,” the bear teased before giving Celeste a boop on the beak with his finger and sliding the new, thoroughly powdered, diaper into place. It must be nice to be able to lose so much extra weight by just dropping a load in your pants.”
Jack had finished washing his hands and was now looking awestruck at how the little, yellow bird was affectionately peering up to watch as Kenneth fastened her into the cartoon-printed diaper and set about snapping her shortalls back on.
“Thanks, champ!” Kenneth said while playfully rubbing a free paw over Jack’s tuft of hair. “Don’t know many others your age who would bother doing what you just did for me and the little lady here.”
Jack felt his face burn as he became overwhelmed with emotions that made him feel all tingly in places he never thought he’d feel such sensations.
TIP-TAP
The brown otter was brought out of his thoughts as Celeste toddled towards him and proceeded to wrap herself around his torso in a warm embrace.
“Good golly, Junior!” announced Kenneth. “Looks like you made yourself a new friend!”
Jack was nervous to reciprocate the hug. He then thought it would not look good in front of his bear buddy to act coldly to the purple ribbon wearing bird girl whose single strand of thick, tangerine-orange colored hair tickled at his tummy despite it being covered by his polo shirt.
“Shucks,” the middle-aged bear said as he took in the adorable sight of the four foot tall otter supporting the bird toddler that was only a little over a foot shorter in height. “Think you can hold her wing while we make our way to the kid’s corner?”
Celeste wasted no time in releasing her hug to wrap her winged hand around Jack’s paw.
Jack continued to feel all warm and tingly, but was aware enough to see what looked like a tear running down his friend’s face.
“Alright, troops!” Kenneth called while reaching a hand out for Jack to hold. “We’re off!"
