The historic Bristol Zoo Clifton site is due to close at the beginning of September 2022, so this is my last look at the zoos award winning Seal and Penguin Coast exhibit. Opened for the 1999 season the exhibit sits in a corner of the zoo site, surrounded by Victorian era houses and Clifton College school buildings. A quite unique setting.
View from the entry ramp, over wooden decking tied in to the wrecked ship theme of the public part of the exhibit. The penguins are African Penguins whose population is estimated to have fallen by over 90% through the 20th century and the exhibit was designed to provide the rocky South African coastlines these penguins inhabit.
