"Growing Blind..." Vent Art ((2021))
I realized I never posted this here so... here it goes...
THIS... is what both of my eyeballs look like.
Glaucoma is a result of damage to the optic nerve and abnormally high pressure circulating within the eye. This condition causes blindness within the elder starting at age 60 and up.
BUT....
It is RARE when in younger people. Case of 20 to 35 have grown slightly. There was a case of a young girl at age 10. NO, it is not caused by watching too much tv or being close to the screen of television, computers, or phones. Having glasses can help BUT you will still go blind. At the moment, I wear my glasses to at least see my computer screen, as the blurryness isn't too bad. Without, well, I'm strange and don't wear my glasses much.
So.. the surgeries... YOU ARE AWAKE thru out the whole surgery WHICH can range from 1 to 2 hours. Depending on the doctor. Both of my surgeries were an hour each, and I got to listen to hard rock as the doctor did his thing. They knock you out for a bit to place your eye in a device that keeps your eye in place. I had to have my hands placed down as I wanted to feel the device, lol. Thru the surgery though.... its... its like you are under a glass table, looking up with blurry vision. Seeing red, white... and the sound of squish. I was uncomfortable by this but... it was a new view I know I'll never see again. I had this surgery done on both eyes BUT separate times. The doctor does not want to stress you out. During recovery... You are NOT allowed to bend over, you CAN NOT lift anything, slow movements, NO skating, biking, or driving! I couldn't even pick up my cat who LOVED to be picked up!.
AFTER both surgeries where done; having to sell $3000 worth of things that my mother, and sister were awesome to help with, paid the doctor. After recovery of both eyes, I was told not to play Dodge ball or anything that can hit my skull like a bobble head.
Reason.... my optic nerves were strangely, and badly thinner then the normal Glaucoma patient. So... no more rough sex for me T.T
This was also the moment, which I should of looked up more information on, he told me I am going blind. Now, as an Artist. Creative mind, and all that... I would of been fine with Color Blindness as I know what colors are! Blindness is NOT what I wanted on my bucket list. Got in my car, and cried. I cried so hard but had to stop as I didn't like driving when I cried.
Years have passed, and bad luck stuck with me like a fungus. I got a tumor the size of a football removed, and in 2021 I had my reproductive tube removed. Stress causes a lot of trouble in the human body, and I try to let people know not to let it take over your life. Women are impacted by stress a lot more then men, apparently that was a study done.
Every 3 months, I see my eye doctor. He and I have noticed a progression recently in my left eye which is suppose to be my strongest. I told him light hurts on the left side. Its painful. On the right... I know light is there but it doesn't bother me. I could be looking at the sun and not notice anything. I've tried it..... Don't look at the sun either way. I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy that day...
If... you would like to see some details. I will be happy to post them, or record them. I'm 35... at a young age, the eye doc told my parents to watch my eyesight.... I found out at 21. Take good care of your eyes. Get them checked ever 5 months. If there IS a sign of something that you don't understand. TELL YOUR EYE DOCTOR! Do not leave ANYTHING out! Find easy ways for YOU to handle stress for your body. Everyone has their own way of dealing with it. I'm just too late to handle it. One top of my eyes... I'm Chronically Depressed, have High Anxiety, ALWAYS Stressed, and have become a hermit. A lot of my viewers know I'm now a Freelance Artist, and its been difficult. 24/7.... If I could make a documentary about Glaucoma, I fuckin' would!
Its not fun...
I'm fighting Disability Early on in my life so that I won't need to find at an age where I can't see anything or anyone. I don't have help, support hasn't been easy to deal with here other then having a therapist who is finally trying her best to help me with this depression and stress.

That's a tough story. I often think about what it would be like to go blind. I also like art and painting. Thinking about it now I think I would write stories.
There's a guy on YouTube, the blind surfer, i have been enjoying his videos, maybe give him a watch for some inspiration.
I'm sorry you are loosing your sight, that must be very hard for you, but I hope you can find love and joy in life through it.

You will find a way Fox. I believe in you, no one wants you to be the next blind surfer, but you will find other blind people who will share their lives and hobbies with you. It sounds like this surgery has bought you more time, and who knows, maybe doctors will develop new eye treatment in the future.
It's hard to know what the future holds, Doctors told my mum she couldn't get pregnant and then they invented fertility treatments and here I am.
I believe in you, I know you will figure something out and share time and experiences with people who love you, regardless of eye sight or not :)
