Buck Brothers: The New Flagpole Prop (7/23/22)
So, fanbucks, this is a new custom flagpole prop for the Buck Brothers and the Stikbot figures for film. This prop was very difficult to make and getting myself nearly scratched. I put the original flag it came with (I took it off and folded it up into a triangle, I tried.) and the 4x6 flag I bought for a size comparison.
THE POLE:
I used a stick flag that I bought from Dollar Tree, and the pole was used outside until I got my new STAND Flagpole for my birthday. When I took it out of the gate, I thought, “This is perfect!”, and the size did the job. Even though the flag was made in China, I’m trying to make a prop Made in the USA.
THE FLAG:
I used the Bounty Quicker Picker-Upper to make it, along with the flash card to trace. The reason why I did it lightly was that it could get torn and it would waste time. I added gold to the grommets which are pretty small to see. I did all fifty stars and thirteen stripes, front and back. Maybe in the future I could use actual cloth to get this to work.
THE HALYARD:
It was simple, I used some string, and tied a knot to secure it tightly. This serves as an advantage to make half-staff capabilities.
THE “PULLEY”, THE CLEAT, AND THE CARABINERS:
I used garden wire to make them, the material I use to give Stikbots more articulation. It was really hard to get all of them so it would not slide all the time, so at the cleat, I added duct tape.
This is how I made the prop! This goes as the same process for any kid of material for your pole, or any kind if you’re up to stop motion or displaying it. You can make a flagpole prop like this and you can make any flag of your country, state, or territory.
