Another look into this setting, this time looking at San.
Scholar, pilot, outdoorsman, and performer. An unlikely group to track down monsters, but between the four of them, they were a highly efficient team among the Hunters.
Since San's "condition," he has had to withdraw from most of Hunter society, but he will still offer assistance where he can. He still knows his way around aircraft, but his new skill set gives him an extra edge. However, it doesn't come without its own set of risks. Which is why these companions are of particular value, and why he still associates with them - they can help to pull him back, when he starts to slip.
Lee is San's oldest friend, the first friend he was able to make since being taken in by the Hunters when he was young. While they are similar in age, San always regards Lee as being more mature, and has a lot of respect for him and his intelligence. Lee is an avid scholar, with a particular focus on biology. His career in science doesn't stop him from reading all manner of books on esoterica as well, though.
Beckett was an unexpected friend, someone that San might not have otherwise bonded with. Outgoing and boisterous, rough around the edges, he is a contrast to San's preference for quiet. More than just muscle, Beckett is a clever survivalist, capable of making quick, instinctive yet informed decisions. He has a rare capacity for kindness, but also fearlessness in the face of danger, and he has personally helped San on many an occasion.
And then there is Danny. The youngest - and smallest - of the group, Danny has a natural charisma, charm, and grace befitting a stage performer. Hunting can involve the investigation of people just as much, and he is especially capable of gaining the trust and confidence of others. San had been assigned as a mentor to him for a time as he learned the ways of the Hunter, and as such, he feels personally responsible for him, seeing him as something like a little brother.
A look at San and his Hunter companions. He understands what he is - which is why he continues to see them. Anything - or anyone - that can help him keep his sanity is worth holding onto.
