OWW - The Ar'bou; The Nomadic Desert Wyverns
The latest breed of dragonfolk to walk Srreesh, their origins are shrouded in mystery. The folk of the world cannot seem to recall when or where the Ar'bou first appeared... But they're here now, and they seem like a decent enough lot.
Rumors claim them to a mimicry of the elder Primordials, crafted by the lost humans, or perhaps ar'Kaius. Yet so little is known of their origins this can only be infered rather that posited with any degree of certainty. The only thing for certain is that they appeared after the Primordials woke up from their long slumber.
Typically they appear orange, yellow or brown, to best blend in with the sands and the rocks of their desert homeland. Though there exist rarer clans of sky to navy blue Ar'bou who make their home along the coasts. Being wyverns, they have full wing-arms, with talons on the end for handling food and such, instead of opposable claws found on other dragons. To complement the wings, they have a spiked tail and contractable air control tail fins. Their manes terminate in an encompassing tuft of neck floof, and can grow to staggering thickness. This neck fur is good for storing snacks, and retaining heat around critical organs. They can average 4-7ft, not including the neck which can stretch out up to 3ft.
The oldest Elder known of has been noted living up to 140 years of age.
Free-spirited and enigmatic, their main population can be found in the Great Desert from which they hail, but Ar'bou can be found in all corners of the world. Some find great fun in joining Kabaiyo wargames and melding with other societies, others in indulging in the myriad cultures to be found across the wide world.
They also have no need for the concept of "gender." Instead, gender and its presentation is up to the individual, and their society holds on to a loose, fluid stance on the topic. This is thanks in part to every member of their species being born with both sets of reproductive bits.
Fun fact time, desert wyverns can "swim" in the sands as easily as in water. While traveling the sands, they can burrow into the sand and sleep all comfy like down there, their neck fluff and specially adapted clothing keeping them warm.
Most Ar'bou are also natural practicitioners of the rare and enigmatic "Arcane Magic," or as they prefer to call it, "Soul Magic." A special kind of magic that allows them to manifest shapes at will. Though most will only develop it insofar as it aids their day to day life. Manifesting a sharp blade over a dull edge, for one example, or much more commonly, a set of hands.
Naming Convention: Typically, ar-Bou are named first with the name of their tribe, followed by their given/chosen name.
like so: Ra’hai, Ra’ being the clan of origin, Hai being the individual’s name.
Typically, the clan is regarded as one’s family/last name.
