Carrancas are wooden sculptures that have this expression of bad mood / angry in order to scare away evil spirits, they are related to the typical sculptures of boats that navigate the São Francisco River in Brazil.
Based on this knowledge of this sculpture typical of my country, I imagined if these sculptures were also so that this creature would not attack the boats, since it mistakes the sculptures for one of its similar ones.~
Would you like to know more about the culture of my country? if yes, comment below! Im excited to see your thoughts~

That looks super cool! Love the color palette and the combination of dragon, snake, and fish-like features, and the patterning is really lovely too!! <333
I like learning about the culture, mythologies, and general folk tales of different countries, especially those that I'm not too familiar with and haven't heard much about. So yes, I'd absolutely love to know more!

Thank you! everything in the design was inspired by animals from my country's fauna and popular ceramics.
I'm really excited to do more drawings and creatures in my country's culture
(and I think about making an anthro version of this character to try to sell him on adopting. I need to try ehe

What I enjoy most about your art is that despite the fearsome appearance of this creature, your playful nature shines through. I have seen representations of these "Carrancas" in museums and import shops, but I never knew they came from Brazil. Now I know something new and interesting.
