Once more it was time for Lady Daria to visit the Empress.
As a dear old friend of the Empress, she took pride in seeing how
the young tanuki children had grown since she last saw them.
Even now the Lady of the Palace had a young cottontail kitten of
her own. It had been some time since she had left the service of
the tanuki family to start her own, a few months ago that she
had last seen the children of Lady Daria.
Upon first entrance to the Kemori Palace the rabbit woman was
swarmed by the excited children. So many questions poured from
their lips of places to go, to see her own son Akito, and even if they
could own pets. Despite it all the leporine Lady could only do so
much with what little time she had. Eventually she’d have to rush home
to bring home Akito from school.
First order of business was with the young Kaede, Lady Daria had
promised in the last letter she had sent that she’d help the tanuki
tame her unruly hair. It had grown thick, long, and always found itself
seeded with cherry blossom petals. Despite the wild nature of it her
locks never lost their luster and even flourished magnificently beneath
the golden rays of the sunlight.
With comb in hand Lady Daria tried her best to groom it. The more
she tried to find her grip the further her paws sank into the gigantic tangle.
“Kaede, when was the last time you washed your hair?”
She asked, trying to keep her panic at bay. Despite all her best efforts the
princess’s hair did not wish to be groomed. It almost had a will of its own as
if to defy Lady Daria.
“Let’s see,” sang the princess in blissful ignorance, “You came last month, right? Around then!”
Oh my goodness.
