I'd like to formally introduce two of my characters from my upcoming LGBT Speculative/Romance novel, THIN (JMS Books, June 11th, 2022) (purchase link https://www.jms-books.com/vanessa-k.....-p-4366.html). Left we have the rival, Ami, and right, the fashion lead, Naomi.
Think the hardest part about this process is leaving the cover art up to the publisher, and it's going to be stock photo manipulation stuff... But as I ended up having a book edit-helled from Contemporary to Romance, that is sort of expected for the cover anyway. Oh well. This wasn't my idea for the intended cover design neither, just needed to get some character art done, because it's actually rather embarrassing for me to not draw at least Naomi despite having her in my known character roster for like 3 years. So, say hi to not my newest character! Since there is still Ruta from yet another book. Alas...
I'm still a bit baffled I wrote a romance... The other three publishers I work with are laughing the butts off at this too. "YOU wrote a romance?!" It barely counts. And the one trope that qualifies it (and like there is only one), is very rare and apparently infuriating to romance diehards. But if you want to see for yourself, I'll add the book link once it becomes available.
As for the picture, took a little longer on this than I'd like mostly since I had problems proportioning their faces, that it and it was designed to be cropped and zoomed on their faces if need be, so cue the detail cramming. And looky, I can do different fabrics! *Shoots self* I lean to most of my face problems being embarrassingly related to the fact I definitely do not draw enough people, and even less of people of color. But yeah, this was interesting to work on and I'm mostly glad to have finally done this.
