A beautiful happy ending. She saved her village, became a mermaid and found love with that handsome merman king. I think of all your male characters, he’s your hottest one (sorry I just have a weakness for merfolks, especially mermen.) And the poor jealous merboy is just so adorable.
I kind of imagine the mermaid suddenly thinking: "Wait, am I forgetting someone? What happened to that rude snob? Then again, she was rude to the kids and was fine leaving an innocent mermaid trapped in a fishing net. Im sure she’s safe and sound… right?" The king answer with a smile: "Don’t worry. Your «friend» too got the just reward she deserved."
