An RPG I've gotten my hands on is 'DELVE: A Solo Map Drawing Game'. In a sense, it's Dwarf Fortress, but as a solo RPG about digging and hunting for a treasure.
I'm planning a game with Maximus, one of my Dwarfs, as the Overseer of a fortress on a quest for the Void Crystal, and wanted to draw him again. I touched up on his beard a bit and decided to build up a bit on the lore for my Dwarfs. I also did a bit of a doodle of the Fortress Door; I was heavily inspired by Kruggsmash if you can't tell...
That flag there is the flag for the civilization of Dwarfs within the country of Athea.
It's a country built upon the Shiitake Hills; a land made up mostly of hills and grasslands, surrounded by forests. Its capital, Hugh Badir, is a fortress city, built into a large mountain at the edge of the territory. Such landscapes are very unusual for Dwarfs, but the people of Athea have lost their original mountain home 1000 years ago to the forces of darkness; The Goblin Hoard.
But that's ancient history, we need to focus on the present.
The second Goblin Wars are coming to an end, right after the Dwarven inhabitants have forced back the Goblin Raiders from their lands and took back their Princess, Ysabel Witchslayer, who will soon be coronation as the next Under-Queen of Athea.
And the Princess was currently speaking with Maximus Hammerstorm, one of her most trusted generals in the wars.
"And that is why I'm asking you to investigate these readings." Princess Ysabel said, handing Maximus the map. "My Sages believe it could very well be the Void Crystal."
"Void Crystal?" The Dwarf asked, lightly stroking his beard.
"Its powers are said to be incredible." Ysabel explained, "my studies speak of ancient civilizations under our feet. They used those crystals as arcane focuses for not just Mages, but for entire armies. Imagine, platoons of 50 or even corps of Dwarfs, numbers reaching the 100,000s being able to use a single stone to fuel their magic. Such power was locked away, but we could use it to defend our borders."
"Princess, I understand that you're shellshocked after the war," Maximus said, "but maybe you should stop and think this through."
Ysabel took a breath, "Maximus, I watched my mother die while locked up in the Goblin Queen's clutches. She might not be able to hurt me again, but I still wake up at night wondering when the next Goblin Invasion will happen. If I'll be stolen in the middle of the night again. Or if I'll be forced to watch my lands burned to the ground and my people suffer while I'm helplessly watching from this castle."
"My mother, may she sleep peacefully, thought that when war came, our neighbors would be there for us. But the Elves saw us as little more than a shield and the Humans wanted to remain neutral. They left us to burn and we had to pick ourselves up by our boot straps. And it won't happen again."
Maximus gave another sigh; he loved his princess, but knew that her mind wouldn't be changed when she was like this. And, deep down, he felt the same as she did.
The Dwarven Soldier took a knee and bowed his bald head. "You have my axe, my Princess. I'll take this expedition and secure the Void Crystal."
"Thank you, Maximus." Ysabel smiled, wiping a tear she didn't know she had shed.
And thus, began the construction of the mining fortress, Nel Borimm.
