Happy Tom of Finland day!
if it wasn't obvious, ToF was a huge inspiration for me as both an artist and gay man. Growing up in a conservative leaning Mormon household, I never really had great opinions of gay people or myself as a gay man. I was always taught it was sinful and a life of misery.
Tom's art helped me realize being gay is more than just stereotypes and one could be happy in masculine aesthetics and gay. Gay men are strong, whether they're in leather or dresses, masc and femme, Cis and Trans, every color, every nationality. To my gay brothers, you're loved. let's use our strengths to protect our lgbtq+ communities.
