Pathfinder 2e: Ghenna and Jin - The Shadow and The Snake
Theme
First based on a very particular image of a mystical ninja—acrobatics and infiltration, scaling walls and picking locks; magic, illusions and flames, substitutions and enchantments, with powerful magical animals on call—then made a little lazier, a little louder, and a little less mysterious. Flavor-wise she probably uses cool handsigns or something adjacent for her magic. Thematically, she’s something of an arcane infiltrator with a summon for backup. Mechanically, she’s a summoner with her skills focus on infiltration: stealth and lockpicking for finesse, and athletics and acrobatics for traversal. The summoner’s limited mastery of magic aligns with her limited mastery of magic, and her eidolon class feature allows Jin to fulfill his role as the muscle between the two of them.
Friend of Panne and probably friend-antagonist of Mimi Mahara.
Summary
Ghenna Hagaata - Catfolk Transwoman (she/her) 27 years old
Jin - Dragon Eidolon Giant Serpent (he/him) ??? years old
Ghenna believes herself to be descended from an old, defunct noble house, left on her parents' doorstep as a baby, in a farming village way up in the mountains of Illoken. She found work at a casino in the city trying to chase the high life and got swept up in some shady underground circuits, where she learned to be a skilled agent and infiltrator. But, lacking any combat expertise, and intent on surviving the cutthroat underworld, she dug around the noble family's abandoned ancestral home for any magic that could help her. She found books and scrolls on fire magic and illusions, but most importantly, she found the old rituals to summon the family's ancestral guardian, the giant flaming serpent, Jin, who was said to come to the family's defense in their times of need. With Jin at her back, Ghenna has nothing to be afraid of.
Neither of them actually have any relation to the noble family—what they have is totally new and unique. Ghenna has no blood ties to nobility and Jin knows this, but for now he's entertaining Ghenna's belief. He cares more than he lets on, and for him, it's an opportunity to try and get her on a better path.
Ghenna’s lazy, charming, and a bit of a brat, very self-assured but her ego is very prone to bruising. High-class trash. Jin’s rather stern, careful, and dutiful, but good-natured still. If it were up to Jin, the two of them would be taking easier jobs with a lot less showboating, but since it’s up to Ghenna, life is exciting.
