here's a contest submission for a mini-thing in that FTL Multiverse discord server, hosted by one of the devs. description for the submission below. also had some help from a birb friend on it
You take your time, hitting up other alternate sectors before sector 8, helping Nights go back into power, grabbing Billy and Metyunt along the way, and finally helping to stop the corrupt Senator from creating more Vek abominations. As you finally enter sector 8, not even Tully greets you, as it's oddly quiet. There's no nearby Federation ships to be seen, as the base to greet you has been blasted to smithereens.
You jump towards the base, not far from here, as looking at the map, it seems you're not too late, the blip for the flagship still hangs around the base. It seems they've been holding on for just long enough for you to come in and rescue them! You prepare the jump drive, with one of the Knights that Nights gave you, stands by you at the helm.
As you arrive at the base, its completely different than what you expected. You weren't told that in this universe, nebula surrounded the base, but as you look around, you see the Rebel Flagship crashed into the base of the Federation Spire, but worse news is on the horizon. An Elite Cealaformer roams around what remains of the smoldering Federation Base, puffing out nebula. Far in the distance, crashed fleetships from both sides of this Multiversal war are crashed into the ground, with the silhouettes of Coalition fleetships look over the wrecks, blasting into the city below.
As you try to hail any remaining Federation ships or bases in range, the Knight beside you aims his blaster at you, motioning for you to put your hands up. The other Knight shuffles into the helm as well, seemingly done his job too. They tap into the comms link, and none other than Nights comes onto the screen, gloating in his victory "Sssseemss you sssspent too much time elsssewhere, and I decccided to get the coalittttion back together for one lassst job, and we did it! No thankssss to you, Renegade. Now, throw them in the clink, Knightsss!" Seems like this won't end well for anybody in this Multiverse...
