This is a really interesting design! Especially the snout sells the uniqueness to the otherwise rather equine shape of head and ears. a subtle but very outstanding detail!

A bit of both! His species is a descendent from something similar to a Chalicotherium, a prehistoric ungulate that looks like a cross between a gorilla, rhino and horse! The sharp snoot is because of that
